Executive Vice President of Development Management
Dean Barber has joined the Confluent Development executive team as leader of development management.
In this role, Barber will lead the overall execution of all Confluent Development projects. The firm’s six-person executive team is responsible for setting the strategic vision, long-term growth plans and developing the culture of the organization. With Confluent Development making a respected name for the level of complexity in the projects it develops, Barber’s role focuses on the firm’s development management, critical to the firm’s continued growth. Barber will continue to scale the organization locally and nationally with best-in-class processes, ensuring the firm remains industry-leading in its process to execution.
With more than 28 years of development experience, Barber’s capability spans product types including build-to-suit, multi-tenant office, medical office buildings and surgery centers, hospitals, retail campuses, hospitality, multi-family and light industrial business parks as well as large mixed-use land developments.
Previously, Barber served as senior vice president of development management for McWhinney, overseeing the execution of the firm’s commercial, hospitality and multi-family developments since 2002. During his time with McWhinney, he developed more than 35 projects, totaling more than 3.25 million-square-feet of commercial space with notable projects including the revitalization of historic Denver Union Station into the Crawford Hotel and the redevelopment of historic Dairy Block into a mixed-use office, retail and hospitality development, in Lower Downtown Denver.
He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and completed coursework in the Master of Science in construction management program from Colorado State University. He is also an active participant in the professional community through membership in NAIOP and previously served on the board of Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation.
